Melanie Singh, MS, RN, NPD-BC is the Magnet Program Director at the NIH Clinical Center. In this role, she serves as the strategic architect and steward of clinical excellence, leading the organization’s Magnet program in alignment with the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) Magnet Recognition Program®. She drives the integration of Magnet principles into the fabric of clinical operations, translating standards into measurable outcomes that elevate patient care, strengthen nurse engagement, and advance professional practice. She partners closely with the Nursing Executive Team, nurse leaders, and CCND Shared Governance councils to operationalize innovation, amplify the voice of nursing, and ensure sustained readiness for Magnet redesignation. Through this work, she not only tells the story of clinical excellence but actively shapes it—positioning nursing as a central force in advancing clinical research and patient outcomes. She contributes to executive priorities by aligning Magnet standards with institutional goals, informing strategic planning, and ensuring that investments in nursing translate into measurable outcomes and national distinction.
The majority of Ms. Singh’s nursing career has been dedicated to the NIH Clinical Center, where she has developed deep institutional knowledge and a sustained commitment to advancing clinical research nursing, and professional practice across the organization. She began her career as a clinical research nurse on 1NW Pediatrics before transitioning to the Office of Nursing Professional Practice in 2017. As a Nurse Educator, she has led a wide range of programs and strategic initiatives that strengthen nursing practice, education, and workforce development across the department. She most recently served as Director of the Clinical Research Nursing Residency Program (CRNRP) from 2019 to 2026, where she supported the transition of more than 40 new graduate nurses into the specialty of clinical research nursing—many of whom continue to contribute as emerging leaders across CCND. Under her leadership, the CRNRP maintained accreditation through the ANCC Practice Transition Accreditation Program, demonstrating sustained excellence in transition-to-practice programming.
Ms. Singh earned her Master of Science in Health Services Leadership and Management (Education focus) from University of Maryland Baltimore, where she was the recipient of the Hal and Jo Cohen Graduate Nurse Faculty Scholarship. She is a board-certified Nursing Professional Development Specialist (NPD-BC). Her professional interests include transition to practice, mentorship, shared governance, nursing workforce engagement, and advancing outcomes-driven professional practice.
